Russian companies are set to hire 7,000 workers from Uzbekistan, according to a statement from the press service of the Migration Agency. Bekhzod Musayev, Director of the Migration Agency, recently met with leaders of approximately 20 large Russian companies at the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Moscow. The negotiations resulted in agreements to employ 7,000 Uzbeks across various industries.
Some of the major employers involved in the agreement include:
- ANT YAPI (Construction)
- Ozon Community (E-commerce)
- PEC (Freight Transportation)
- Spar Middle Volga (Grocery Retail Chain)
Candidates for these positions will be selected from different regions of Uzbekistan in February. The Migration Agency has thoroughly reviewed the working conditions and salary offers for the workers.
In addition, discussions took place between the Migration Agency and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with Moscow’s Deputy Mayor Maria Bagreeva and employees of the Sakharova Migration Center.
The focus was on simplifying the process for Uzbek citizens to obtain work and residence permits in Russia. One of the key agreements made was to allow Uzbek nationals to take the mandatory Russian language exam for work permits at the Sakharova Migration Center's branch in Tashkent.
Despite these agreements, Russia is tightening its migration policies. In March 2024, the Russian Ministry of Labor proposed deporting labor migrants who are not employed in their designated fields. Workers seeking employment with non-participating companies would have to leave Russia within 15 days.
In April of the previous year, the Russian Interior Ministry suggested limiting migrants' stay to 90 days annually. Additionally, foreigners could face restrictions on their rights if they fail to provide electronic proof of their legal status.
