Kazakhstan and Pakistan signed 10 intergovernmental agreements during the 13th meeting of their Intergovernmental Commission (IGC), held in Islamabad. The agreements span key sectors including trade, education, sports, entrepreneurship, standardization, and information exchange, reflecting a shared commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation.

The meeting was co-chaired by Kazakhstan’s Minister of Transport, Marat Karabayev, and Pakistan’s Minister of National Economy, Ahad Khan Cheema. Both sides emphasized the importance of deepening economic and logistical ties between Central and South Asia.
In addition to the IGC session, Minister Karabayev met with Pakistan’s Minister of Communications Abdul Aleem Khan, as well as senior officials from the ministries of Railways, Maritime Affairs, and Aviation. Talks focused on enhancing rail, sea, and road connectivity, simplifying customs procedures, and resuming regular direct flights between the two countries.

Further discussions with Pakistan’s National Logistics Corporation (NLC) addressed plans to open an NLC office in Almaty, participate in mineral fertilizer transportation projects, and establish a Kazakhstan-Pakistan transport and logistics consortium. These initiatives aim to create efficient multimodal routes that link the two regions more effectively.
The meeting concluded with the signing of a joint Protocol outlining a roadmap for accelerating bilateral cooperation. Both countries pledged to achieve tangible outcomes through focused collaboration and strategic project implementation.
QazTrade reported that in 2023–2024, trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Pakistan rose by 2.1%, reaching $53.6mn. Kazakhstan’s exports to Pakistan saw a 2.1-fold increase, totaling $11.8mn. The primary exports were agricultural products, notably flax seeds and legumes.
