A new presidential decree, on measures to introduce modern mechanisms for the protection and rational use of pastures, has been adopted, resulting in the abolition of the Committee for the Development of the Silk and Wool Industry, according to the Ministry of Justice.

According to the decree, responsibilities and functions previously overseen by the Committee will be redistributed to various other committees and ministries:
- Pasture Management tasks will be transferred to the Veterinary and Livestock Development Committee.
- Cocoon Cultivation and Sericulture development functions will be taken over by the Ministry of Agriculture and the Uzbekipaksanoat association.
- The Scientific Research Institute of Karakul Farming and Steppe Ecology and the Bukhara Scientific and Production Center for Seed Production of Steppe-Pasture Forage Plants will now fall under the Veterinary Committee system.
- The Scientific Research Institute of Sericulture and the Scientific Research Institute of Natural Fibers of Uzbekistan will become part of the Ministry of Agriculture's structure.
The decree also outlines the creation of new Pasture Farms (regional pasture farms) in key regions including Karakalpakstan, Bukhara, Jizzakh, Kashkadarya, Navoi, Samarkand, and Surkhandarya, all of which will operate under the Veterinary Committee's oversight.
In addition, a Department of Pasture Development will be established within the central structure of the Veterinary Committee, and a Republican Commission will be set up to ensure the efficient use and protection of pasture lands. This commission will also oversee the growth of industries such as Karakul breeding, leather production, and wool.
Territorial pasture farms will now have rights similar to those of forestry farms, including the ability to manage and lease pastures with long-term use rights. Pastures will be available for lease to livestock and other farms for up to 49 years, with the Republican Commission making decisions on pasture allocation.
In a significant digital shift, the decree mandates the launch of the "E-yaylov" electronic platform by December 1, 2025. This platform is expected to streamline pasture management and ensure their more effective use.
This decision follows the 2021 presidential decree that renamed the Committee for the Development of Silk and Karakul Breeding, establishing it as the Committee for the Development of the Silk and Wool Industry. With the latest changes, the government aims to enhance the management of pasture resources and foster sustainable agricultural practices across the country.
