Khusanov is set to undergo a medical evaluation in the coming days before signing a contract with Manchester City that runs until June 2029, with an option for a one-year extension.
Khusanov’s arrival increases the number of foreign players in the EPL to 119. The 20-year-old defender was signed by Lens in July 2023 for just €100,000 from Belarusian club Energetik-BGU. While at Lens, he made 31 appearances and recorded one assist.
The young defender’s market value, according to Transfermarkt, is €12 mn, making the €40 mn transfer a significant investment for Manchester City. Khusanov’s signing further solidifies the club’s commitment to nurturing global talent and adds another milestone in Uzbekistan’s football history.
