In a press conference held in Tashkent on August 5, Temur Kapadze, head coach of the Uzbekistan Olympic football team, outlined various challenges encountered by the team during their participation in the Paris 2024 Olympics. Kapadze's detailed account highlighted several logistical and organizational issues that affected the team's preparation and performance.
The Uzbekistan Olympic football team was among the first members of the Uzbek delegation to arrive and settle in the Olympic Village in Paris. However, their early arrival was marred by several setbacks. Kapadze noted that essential personnel, such as Uzbek cooks and officials, had not yet arrived, complicating the initial settling-in process.
Kapadze identified several critical issues caused by the Olympic organizers. The team lost a substantial amount of time commuting due to inefficient transportation arrangements. Additionally, several of Kapadze's assistants and the team manager were denied access to the Olympic Village, complicating logistical and operational efficiency. The building where the team was housed faced multiple problems, including non-functional air conditioners, which created uncomfortable living conditions for the athletes. There were also instances of water shortages, attributed to the organizers' mismanagement. These issues disrupted the team's routine, hindering theoretical training sessions and necessary massage procedures.
Regarding food and nutrition, Kapadze mentioned that while the issue was being resolved, it initially posed a challenge. He emphasized that his complaints were directed solely at the Olympic organizers and not at the officials from Uzbekistan. He clarified that all objections raised during the press conference were aimed at highlighting the organizational shortcomings of the Paris 2024 Olympic committee.
