After a narrow defeat to Egypt (0:1), Timur Kapadze, the head coach of the Olympic national team of Uzbekistan, shared his thoughts on the match on Uzbekistan 24 TV channel.
“We had no intention of leaving so early. At times, we lacked luck, and at other times, we lacked experience. We felt the spirit of the Olympics and played freely. Unfortunately, both games were winnable. We had enough strength, but we made mistakes in small episodes. I apologize to the fans and extend my deepest gratitude to them,” Kapadze expressed.
The national team of Uzbekistan, placed in Group C, faced tough competition. They lost to Spain (2:1) and Egypt (1:0), which resulted in them losing the opportunity to qualify for the next stage of the tournament. The outcome of their match against the Dominican Republic has now lost its significance.
Currently, Spain leads Group C with 6 points, followed by Egypt with 4 points. The Dominican Republic sits in third place with 1 point, while Uzbekistan remains without any points.
