Five football clubs from Turkmenistan have successfully completed the licensing process of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), earning the right to participate in international tournaments under the AFC’s auspices for the 2024/2025 season, as it was reported by the press service of the Football Federation of Turkmenistan.
The clubs that have received AFC licenses are:
- Arkadag
- Altyn Asyr

Club licensing is a mechanism employed by the AFC to elevate the quality standards of football clubs across Asia. It ensures that clubs adhere to requirements concerning governance, infrastructure, financial management, and other key areas. By meeting these standards, clubs aim to improve their operations and contribute to the overall enhancement of football in their respective countries and regions.
As per to the licenses published on the AFC’s official website, Turkmenistan has been allocated one quota for the AFC-2 Champions League and one quota for the AFC Challenge League:
- AFC-2 Champions League: Altyn Asyr has applied for this tournament, which involves competing against top teams in Asia.
- AFC Challenge League: Arkadag will represent Turkmenistan in this league, providing an opportunity for the club to compete on an international stage and gain experience.
