Lazizbek Mirzaev, an 18-year-old midfielder and a member of Uzbekistan's youth national football team, has transferred from Lokomotiv Tashkent to Spanish club Leganes, as it was confirmed by Lokomotiv's press service.
Specific details regarding the transfer agreement have not been disclosed. Mirzaev’s current contract with Lokomotiv is valid until December 31, 2025. It remains unclear whether the player will join Leganes’ first team or its youth squad.
Mirzaev captained Uzbekistan’s U-17 national team during the 2023 U-17 World Cup, where he scored the decisive goal in the 1/8 finals against England (2:1) during a penalty shootout. The team reached the quarterfinals, ultimately losing to France.
Following his performance in the tournament, Mirzaev attracted the attention of international scouts. His current transfer value is estimated at €350,000.
In an interview with Championship.Asia in June, Mirzaev revealed interest from Leganes, leading to the signing of a contract. However, due to regulations, Leganes can officially register him only after his 18th birthday. The midfielder debuted for the club's main squad in October.
During the 2024 Uzbekistan Super League season, Mirzaev played 14 matches, starting in eight and scoring one goal. Lokomotiv, the three-time champion of Uzbekistan, was relegated to the Pro-League after the season.
Leganes, a Spanish football club based in a Madrid suburb, was founded in 1928. The team competes in La Liga, Spain’s top football division. In the ongoing season, Leganes is positioned 17th after 16 matches, with three wins, six draws, and seven losses.
