Reports have emerged alleging that during a law enforcement operation in Moscow’s Sokolniki district on June 8, 2025, Russian Special Purpose Police Unit (OMON) used physical force against foreign nationals temporarily working in the country. The incident has drawn widespread attention and concern across media platforms.

While the Russian authorities have yet to issue an official statement, the Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Moscow, along with the Representative Office of the Uzbek Migration Agency in the Russian Federation, has taken the matter under close supervision.
According to preliminary information, five to six individuals with irregularities in their documentation were detained during the raid and transported to the local internal affairs department for further clarification.
Uzbek officials are currently working to verify whether any citizens of Uzbekistan were among those affected, particularly those who may have sustained injuries or had their rights violated.
In a public statement, the Uzbek Migration Agency urged any Uzbek nationals who were harmed or experienced rights violations during the operation to promptly contact the agency’s representative office in Russia.
Citizens of Uzbekistan who were involved in or witnessed the incident are encouraged to reach out to the Migration Agency’s office in the Russian Federation.
