Afghanistan has delivered 16 truckloads of high-quality white marble to Uzbekistan for the construction of the Imam Bukhari complex in Samarkand, the press service of the khokimiyat (city administration) of the Surkhandarya region reported.

On May 13, a key meeting was held at the Termez International Trade Center, attended by prominent figures from both countries.
The meeting saw the participation of Ismatulla Irgashev, Special Representative of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan, Ulugbek Kosimov, Khokim (mayor) of the Surkhandarya region, Mullo Abdul Vose, Head of the Secretariat of the Prime Minister of Afghanistan, and Mohammad Yusuf Wafa, Governor of Afghanistan's northern Balkh Province.

The discussions focused on enhancing multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and Afghanistan, with a particular emphasis on expanding trade, transport, and cultural ties.
At the end of the meeting, the Afghan delegation officially handed over the 16 truckloads of Herat white marble, destined for the construction of the Imam Bukhari complex in Samarkand.

Herat white marble, known for its exceptional qualities, is widely used in countries such as Saudi Arabia, Russia, and Iran. During the meeting, participants discussed its unique properties and growing international demand.
“This stone is highly sought after globally,” said Maulavi Aminullah Sadiq, head of the Afghan Foreign Ministry's representative office in Balkh province. “It stays cool in hot weather and doesn't get too cold in winter. It’s also easy to clean and doesn’t absorb water. Today, we’ve delivered four thousand square meters of marble. The next shipment will follow as soon as it's ready.”

Earlier, Uzbekistan has extended agricultural assistance to Afghanistan as part of its efforts to strengthen regional cooperation and support rural development. The aid focuses on enhancing food security by providing Afghan farmers and agricultural organizations with a variety of high-quality seeds.
Under this initiative, the Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan delivered a substantial package of free aid. This included 5 tons of certified, weather-resistant seeds, sufficient to cultivate 200 hectares of land. Additionally, 20 tons of rice seeds were provided for planting on 100 hectares.
