Uzbekistan and Russia have formalized a new phase in their defense partnership by signing a military cooperation plan for the period 2026–2030, the Uzbek Ministry of Defense announced.

The agreement was signed during a working visit to Moscow by Uzbekistan’s Minister of Defense, Major General Shukhrat Kholmukhamedov, who met with his Russian counterpart, Defense Minister Andrey Belousov. The meeting highlighted both countries’ continued interest in enhancing defense collaboration.
The long-term plan outlines areas of joint activity and defense coordination between the two countries and is expected to strengthen bilateral military ties in the coming years.

On May 2, Uzbekistan’s Deputy Foreign Minister Bakhrom Usmanov held talks with Russian Ambassador Oleg Malginov in Tashkent. The discussions focused on priority areas of bilateral cooperation and included a review of the upcoming schedule of high-level engagements, both bilaterally and within multilateral formats.
The two sides also emphasized the strength of their collaboration in consular and legal affairs, noting that annual consultations on consular matters have become a regular feature of their diplomatic relationship.
