A high-level Uzbek delegation, led by Laziz Kudratov, the Minister of Investment, Industry, and Trade, visited Qatar on November 10-11 for official talks and collaboration. This visit marked a key milestone in the ongoing development of Uzbek-Qatari relations, centered on expanding economic and trade cooperation.
The delegation participated in the inaugural meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation and took part in the Uzbek-Qatari Business Forum. These events provided an invaluable opportunity for discussions with leading figures from Qatar's top companies, focusing on ways to unlock the full potential of bilateral collaboration.
In his opening speech at the Intergovernmental Commission meeting, Laziz Kudratov stressed the importance of advancing Uzbek-Qatari cooperation across multiple sectors, including information technology, trade, investment, agriculture, environmental protection, transport and logistics, education, healthcare, as well as culture, tourism, and sports. He emphasized that the cooperation could become a cornerstone of both nations' long-term development.
Qatar’s Minister of Commerce and Industry, Sheikh Mohammed Al Thani, also highlighted the recent growth in trade and economic ties between the two countries. He expressed confidence in Qatari businesses' trust in Uzbekistan and assured that Qatar is prepared to support the deepening of bilateral initiatives.
The Uzbek-Qatari Business Forum brought together more than 100 representatives from major companies across both nations. The Uzbek delegation showcased an array of investment opportunities in Uzbekistan’s rapidly expanding sectors, such as textiles, food production, agriculture, mining, metallurgy, energy, petrochemicals, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, and transport. Uzbekistan also presented opportunities arising from its ongoing privatization program.
In his meetings with top executives from Qatari companies specializing in gas chemistry, energy, IT, healthcare, tourism, livestock, and construction materials, Kudratov reaffirmed Uzbekistan's commitment to providing comprehensive support at every stage, from identifying investment opportunities to business establishment and development.
The discussions stressed Uzbekistan’s commitment to advancing economic reforms, strengthening its investment climate, and positioning itself as an attractive destination for global investors.
