Kazakhstan and Vietnam have announced plans to increase the share of processed products in the agro-industrial complex to 70% over the next three years, as part of a broader effort to expand economic cooperation. The initiative was highlighted during the Kazakhstan–Vietnam Business Roundtable held in Astana, which brought together senior officials and business leaders from both countries.

The event took place during the visit of Tho Lam, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, and focused on launching new investment projects and strengthening bilateral ties.
“We plan to launch 29 meat poultry farms with a combined capacity of over 220,000 tonnes of meat per year and 11 egg factories producing up to 850 million eggs annually,” said Kazakhstan’s Deputy Prime Minister Yermek Kosherbayev. “We invite Vietnamese partners to establish joint production facilities and introduce modern water-saving technologies.”
Kosherbayev stressed Vietnam’s role as one of Kazakhstan’s top trade partners in Southeast Asia, with bilateral trade reaching $860mn in 2024. He noted that 13 Vietnamese-funded companies currently operate in Kazakhstan, reflecting growing investor confidence.

The roundtable outlined several priority sectors for cooperation, including aviation, agriculture, and digital innovation. Investment conditions such as tax and customs preferences, infrastructure access, and investment agreements were discussed to attract new joint ventures.
A key outcome of the roundtable was the signing of an agreement between Qazaq Air and VietJet to launch a new airline brand—VietJet Qazaqstan.
“Expansion of the route network in the region will strengthen transport connectivity and create new points of economic growth,” said Nurlan Zhakupov, Chairman of the Board at Samruk-Kazyna

Digitalisation and technology exchange also featured prominently in the talks. Kazakhstan, ranked 24th globally in the e-government index, sees Vietnam—a leader in IT—as a strategic partner in digital public services, artificial intelligence, and innovation.
Kazakhstan expressed readiness to support Vietnamese investors and companies at every stage of project implementation, while new initiatives will be advanced through B2B and interagency dialogues.
