The UN General Assembly has unanimously approved the resolution "International Day of Dialogue among Civilizations," co-developed by China and Uzbekistan, as reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The resolution designates June 10 as the International Day of Dialogue among Civilizations with the aim of fostering an appreciation for the diversity of civilizations and fostering dialogue, mutual respect, and global solidarity.
"The document reflects the vision of the leadership of Uzbekistan, voiced at the 78th session of the UN General Assembly in 2023 and the Samarkand SCO Summit in 2022 on the need to promote the spirit of solidarity in the name of common security and prosperity, the desire for constructive cooperation, as well as mobilizing the efforts of the international community for achieving peace and sustainable prosperity," the Foreign Ministry stated.
The resolution received co-sponsorship from over 80 UN member countries, including all Central Asian nations, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bahrain, Hungary, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Qatar, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, UAE, Pakistan, Russia, and Turkey.
"The resolution commends the contribution made by all cultures and civilizations to the enrichment of humanity and recognizes the importance of religious and cultural diversity in the world. Tolerance, respect, dialogue, and cooperation between different cultures and civilizations are encouraged," the Ministry highlighted.
Earlier Daryo reported that on June 4, a resolution was unanimously adopted by the United Nations General Assembly, led by Uzbekistan, highlighting the collective preparedness of Central Asian nations to collaborate in addressing and eradicating issues associated with drug abuse.
