The number of foreign students entering Uzbekistan for education notably rose in 1Q24, the State Statistics Agency stated. The report shows that 6,400 foreign citizens arrived for educational purposes, reflecting nearly a 60% increase compared to the same period last year.
India is the primary country of origin, with 2,000 students coming to Uzbekistan. Turkmenistan and Tajikistan follow with 1,600 and 758 students, respectively. Additionally, 118 students arrived from the United States, and 102 came from Kazakhstan.
Earlier, Daryo reported that Uzbekistan and Qatar are in discussions to enhance their cooperation in education. Ambassador Ashraf Khojayev of Uzbekistan met with Fahad Al-Sulaiti, CEO of Qatar's Education Above All (EAA) Foundation, to discuss strengthening educational ties.
The talks emphasized the need to formalize their partnership through memorandums of cooperation between relevant Uzbek organizations and the EAA Foundation. This move aims to further develop the educational collaboration between Uzbekistan and Qatar.
