An international forum to attract foreign investment in Turkmenistan's energy sector will be held in Paris, France, on 24-25 April 2024. This was reported by the organisers of the event: Turkmengaz, Turkmenneft and Turkmengeologiya.
According to the press release, the purpose of the event is to expand opportunities for attracting foreign direct investment in all segments of Turkmenistan's energy sector. The forum will focus on prospects for cooperation in oil and gas production, transportation and processing.
Experts told Daryo that Ashgabat is inviting foreign investors to develop oil and gas resources in the national sector of the Caspian Sea.
The agenda also includes the diversification of energy routes, the development of the gas-chemical industry, the development of the large Galkynysh gas field and the transition of the local economy to green energy.
Turkmenistan ranks fourth in the world in terms of proven natural gas reserves after Russia, Iran and Qatar. China is currently the largest buyer of Turkmen gas. It also supplies Azerbaijan (via Iran), Russia and Uzbekistan.
