President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has approved an intergovernmental agreement between Uzbekistan and Belarus on the use of electronic systems for certifying the origin of goods, as it was published on the Lex.uz platform.
The agreement, signed on February 8 during Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko's visit to Uzbekistan, aims to streamline trade processes. Alongside this agreement, the two nations committed to establishing a joint foreign trade company and mechanisms to support export-import activities.
The Ministry of Investment, Industry, and Trade and the State Customs Committee of Uzbekistan are tasked with implementing the agreement.
Additionally, Uzbekistan and Belarus recently adopted a program to remove technical barriers in mutual trade. The program was signed by Akmal Jumanazarov, Director of Uzbekistan's Agency for Technical Regulation, and Elena Morgunova, Head of Belarus's State Standardization Committee.
According to Morgunova, the program includes several measures designed to simplify bilateral trade. Its completion is targeted for the end of June 2025.
Trade turnover between the two countries over the first 11 months of this year reached approximately $500mn, as noted by Jumanazarov.
In related developments, plans are underway to create a "one-stop shop" for small businesses in Uzbekistan, Russia, and Belarus to facilitate trade and business operations.
