President of Uzbekistan to visit Russia to participate in Future Games

President of Uzbekistan to visit Russia to participate in Future Games

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan is set to embark on a significant working visit to Kazan on February 21, following an invitation from Russian President Vladimir Putin. The purpose of this visit is to participate in the opening ceremony of the "Future Games," a pioneering event that merges traditional sports with scientific innovations and digital technologies, Uzbekistan's presidential press service reported.

The bilateral meeting between President Mirziyoyev and President Putin during the visit aims to further solidify the comprehensive strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Russia. This meeting will provide an opportunity to review and discuss the progress made in implementing the agreements reached during President Mirziyoyev's official visit to Russia in October 2023. Additionally, both leaders will explore avenues for deepening their bilateral relations across various sectors.

The "Future Games," being held for the first time in the Russian Federation, are slated to take place from February 21 to March 3. This unique sporting event brings together 227 teams from 107 countries, including participants from Uzbekistan.

Overall, President Mirziyoyev's participation in the opening ceremony of the "Future Games" and his subsequent meeting with President Putin exemplify the continued collaboration and mutual engagement between Uzbekistan and Russia. These interactions serve to strengthen diplomatic ties, promote cultural exchange, and pave the way for enhanced cooperation in various spheres of mutual interest.

Leaders from Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan are also anticipated to be present at the event.

Earlier Daryo reported that Uzbekistan's Consul General in Rostov-on-Don, Burkhan Alikulov, stated that trade between Uzbekistan and Russia saw a notable rise, reaching $9.8 bn by the end of 2023. Alikulov highlighted that trade between the two countries experienced substantial growth, exceeding 5% compared to 2022. In the previous year, trade stood at $9.3 bn, showcasing a significant increase in economic engagement.
