The conclusion of high-level negotiations on Februaey 8, between the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and the President of the Republic of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, marked a significant milestone in bilateral relations between the two nations. At the culmination of the talks, the esteemed leaders adopted a joint statement, Uzbekistan's presidential press service reported.
The joint statement was accompanied by the signing of numerous crucial bilateral documents and agreements. Among the key agreements signed were:
An Action Plan for the development of cooperation between Uzbekistan and Belarus for the years 2024-2025, outlining strategic objectives and initiatives to strengthen ties.
An Agreement on the use of electronic systems for product certification, facilitating smoother trade relations and ensuring compliance with quality standards.
An Agreement on cooperation in the fields of competition development, consumer rights protection, and advertising market regulation, prioritizing consumer welfare and fair market practices.
An Agreement on cooperation in science and production, aiming to foster innovation and technological advancement through joint research and development efforts.
An Agreement on the establishment of fraternal relations and the development of multilateral cooperation between the cities of Tashkent and Minsk, fostering cultural exchange and people-to-people connections.
A Protocol on cooperation in the field of energy, signaling mutual commitment to collaboration in the vital energy sector.
A Protocol on cooperation in the field of intellectual property, safeguarding the rights of creators and innovators in both countries.
Cooperation programs in various fields, including sports, culture and art, education, agro-industrial complex, plant quarantine, and tourism, outlining specific initiatives and activities for mutual benefit.
In addition, as part of the visit, a schedule of mutual visits of the delegations of Uzbekistan and Belarus in 2024 was signed.
Earlier Daryo reported that in the meeting between, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan and President Alexander Lukashenko of Belarus, there was acknowledgment of the encouraging progress in trade and economic collaboration, highlighted by a significant 15% rise in trade volume observed last year. The administration's goal is to exceed the $1 mn milestone in trade volume in the near future, supported by measures like the creation of a collaborative foreign trade entity and improvements in import-export logistics.
