Uzbekistan exported 1.3mn tons of fruits and vegetables, valued at $922.8mn from January to August 2024, according to the latest report from the Statistics Agency of Uzbekistan. This represents a 9% increase in volume and a 20.8% rise in monetary value compared to the same period in 2023.
Uzbekistan’s produce is in high demand in several key markets, with Russia (44.1%), Pakistan (15.2%), Kazakhstan (14.6%), and Afghanistan (6.6%) being the largest importers. The expansion of export geography is also notable, with Uzbek fruits and vegetables now reaching consumers in Europe, the Middle East, and South Asia.
Russia remains the leading importer, purchasing 544,900 tons of Uzbek produce worth $407mn, accounting for 44.1% of Uzbekistan’s fruit and vegetable exports.
Pakistan follows with 98,000 tons valued at $140.3mn, representing a 15.2% share, while Kazakhstan imported 406,800 tons worth $135mn, making up 14.6% of the total exports. Afghanistan is also a key market, importing 40,200 tons valued at $60.8mn, capturing a 6.6% share of Uzbekistan’s exports.
Other significant markets include Kyrgyzstan, which imported 112,400 tons worth $40mn (4.3% share), and China, purchasing 47,500 tons valued at $38.1mn (4.1% share). Turkey, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Iraq, Georgia, Ukraine, Iran, the UAE, and Germany also contributed to the impressive export figures, highlighting Uzbekistan's expanding presence in global agricultural markets.
