Kyrgyzstan has reported a significant increase in oil product imports from Belarus during 5M24, the State Statistical Committee reports. The country imported 1,592 tons of oil products from Belarus, a 52% increase from the 1,044 tons imported between January and May 2023. The monetary value of these imports rose by 1%, from $1.5mn to $1.6mn.
Belarus remains a key supplier of oil products to Kyrgyzstan in 2024. Russia leads as the top supplier, delivering 270,948 tons of oil products. Kazakhstan follows with 42,953 tons, and Uzbekistan contributes 2,565 tons.
From January to May 2024, Kyrgyzstan imported 322,175 tons of oil products, valued at $371.5mn. This represents an 84% increase in volume from the same period in 2023 when 174,760 tons were imported. The value of these imports nearly tripled, rising from $134mn in January–May 2023.
In 5M24, Kyrgyzstan's foreign trade turnover reached $6.5bn, an 18.6% increase y/y. Exports amounted to $1bn, reflecting a 4.8% y/y rise. Imports increased by 21.7%, totalling $5.4bn.
The early months of 2024 have seen Kyrgyzstan significantly boost its oil product imports from Belarus, contributing to a broader increase in the country's trade activities.
