Uzbekistan has demonstrated impressive progress in its agricultural sector, with the 2024 melon and gourd harvest surpassing all previous records.
According to a report from the Agency of Statistics under the President of Uzbekistan, the country’s agricultural enterprises have harvested over 1.7mn tons of melons and gourds, marking a 6.7% increase compared to the same period last year.
This boost in production is also reflected in Uzbekistan's export performance. During the first nine months of 2024, the country exported more than 157,200 tons of fruits and vegetables, a 11.8% rise from the previous year. The total value of agricultural exports has exceeded $1bn, stressing the growing international demand for Uzbek produce.
Russia remains the largest importer of Uzbek agricultural goods, with Russian companies purchasing 618,900 tons of fruits and vegetables. Kazakhstan follows closely behind, importing 433,600 tons, while Pakistan ranks third with 100,900 tons purchased.
The success of the melon harvest and the rise in exports highlight the growing strength of Uzbekistan's agricultural industry, which continues to play a pivotal role in the country's economic development.
