Uzbekistan is set to begin exporting fruit to Kuwait, with an initial shipment of three tons scheduled to be delivered in the coming days. The fruit will be sold in 16 stores operated by Lulu Hypermarket, a prominent retailer in Kuwait.
Lulu Group International, the parent company of Lulu Hypermarket, is a multinational conglomerate and one of the largest hypermarket chains in the Middle East.
From January to August 2024, Uzbekistan's exports of vegetables and fruits amounted to $922.8mn, marking a 20.8% increase compared to the previous year. The primary markets for Uzbek agricultural products include Russia, which purchased $407mn worth of produce, followed by Pakistan with $140.3mn, and Kazakhstan at $135mn.
This new partnership with Lulu Hypermarket is expected to expand Uzbekistan's agricultural reach into the Middle East, further diversifying the country's export portfolio.
