Saudi Arabian budget airline Flyadeal has launched regular flights between Jeddah (JED) and Tashkent (TAS), enhancing the range of travel options for both business and religious travelers. The inaugural flight, which arrived late on November 21, marks an expansion of air connectivity between Uzbekistan and Saudi Arabia, particularly for pilgrims.
The airline, known for its budget-friendly services, will operate direct scheduled flights using its only widebody aircraft, an Airbus A330 (on wet lease from Jordan Aviation). Initially, Flyadeal will offer five weekly flights, with plans to increase the frequency to daily starting December 1.
In addition to Tashkent, Flyadeal is set to launch flights from Jeddah to Namangan on December 15. A later launch will also connect Medina with Tashkent, further enhancing travel options between the two nations.
Zhavlonbek Umarkhodjaev, head of Uzbekistan Airports, emphasized the importance of these routes in strengthening air links between Uzbekistan and Saudi Arabia, noting that the expanded services will cater to growing demand, especially for pilgrims.
Dilmurodhon Bakhtiyerkhonov, Flyadeal's representative in Uzbekistan, highlighted the airline’s role in making air travel more affordable for religious tourists.
"The launch of these flights will not only improve air connectivity but also support pilgrims traveling to Saudi Arabia for Umrah and Hajj," he said.
This new flight service is part of a broader agreement made in May between the two countries, which aims to increase the number of weekly flights between Saudi Arabia and Uzbekistan to 50, further boosting religious tourism and strengthening bilateral relations.
