The Embassy of Switzerland in Uzbekistan is set to host Swiss Days 2024, an annual event celebrating Swiss quality, innovation, and reliability while promoting sustainable development. Scheduled from November 23 to 27, the event will take place at the Hyatt Regency Tashkent and Tashkent City Mall. With the participation of over 30 Swiss companies, Swiss Days aims to enhance business ties between Uzbekistan and Switzerland and spotlight cultural, artistic, and educational collaborations.
“Breathe With Me” Art Installation at Tashkent City Mall
Swiss Days 2024 will begin with the opening of “Breathe With Me”, an immersive art installation by renowned Swiss artist Annabelle Schneider. This exhibit will run from November 23 to 26 in the Tashkent City Mall atrium.
The installation, previously showcased at NYCxDESIGN in New York and design events in Barcelona, combines visual art and soundscapes to explore themes of mindfulness and sustainability. Collaborating with curator Inessa Boltyanskaya, Schneider's installation highlights ecological concerns, including air quality and the desiccation of the Aral Sea.
Incorporating traditional Uzbek ikat patterns crafted by La Maison Du Tchapan, the installation bridges Swiss innovation with Uzbekistan's cultural heritage. Swiss musician Luc Augier contributes soundscapes that enhance the tranquil atmosphere.
“This installation emphasizes the universal need for tranquility, especially in regions facing ecological challenges,” says curator Boltyanskaya. Visitors can experience sound therapy, meditation sessions, and interactive activities fostering mindfulness and reflection.
Workshops and Business Sessions
On November 26, Swiss Days will feature workshops and business sessions designed to foster Uzbek-Swiss collaboration across key sectors:
- Water Resources and Agriculture
- Healthcare
- Education
- Infrastructure and Urban Development
Over 20 Swiss companies, including global leaders, will present innovative solutions to support Uzbekistan's development. A highlight of the day will be the “Against the Current” exhibition at Hyatt Regency, focusing on sustainable water management and innovative approaches to water security and agricultural challenges in Uzbekistan and Central Asia.
“For 13 consecutive years, Switzerland has been ranked the most innovative country in the world according to the Global Innovation Index,” remarked Konstantin Obolensky, Swiss Ambassador to Uzbekistan. “As Uzbekistan rapidly develops, investments in infrastructure and services must prioritize solutions that remain durable over time—hallmarks of Swiss quality. The Swiss Days offer a platform for such exchange.”
Swiss Private Education Day
Swiss Days 2024 will conclude on November 27 with a special focus on private education. Organized by the Swiss Private Schools Association, the program will showcase 13 leading private schools through:
- An Education Fair
- Lectures on Swiss educational practices
- A Panel Discussion titled “How to Cultivate a Love for Learning and Reduce Screen Time in Children,” led by Philippe de Korodil, Director of Collège Champittet.
- The Swiss Learning Excellence Award Ceremony, recognizing significant contributions to education in Switzerland and Uzbekistan.
Swiss Days is an initiative by the Embassy of Switzerland in Uzbekistan aimed at strengthening economic and cultural ties. Through interactive activities, exhibitions, and business sessions, the event showcases Switzerland's commitment to innovation, quality, and reliability while fostering collaboration with Uzbekistan across various sectors.
