Lieutenant General Abdusalom Azizov, Chairman of the State Security Service (DXX), has been relieved of his position.
Abdusalom Azizov (born in 1960) had served as the head of the State Security Service since February 2019. Prior to that, he led the Ministry of Defense from September 2017.
From 2002 to 2006, he was the Chairman of the Board of the “Uzbekneftegaz” National Holding Company.
From September 2006 to November 2008, he headed the “Uzneftmahsulot” enterprise (a subsidiary of “Uzbekneftegaz”).
In November 2008, he returned to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, serving as Deputy Minister in November-December of that year, and as First Deputy Minister from December 2008 to December 2009.
From 2009 to 2017, he served as the head of the Jizzakh Regional Department of Internal Affairs.
According to available information, his dismissal may be linked to an attempted assassination of Komil Allamjonov, the former head of the Presidential Administration’s Information Department.
