Public transport in Urgench is undergoing a major transformation as the Bunyod Passenger Transportation Enterprise introduces a new fleet of modern buses to better serve the city’s growing population and rising tourist activity.

A total of 80 buses, valued at approximately $8mn, are being imported, with 50 already delivered and now operating across key routes in the city.
These buses meet the “ Euro-5” environmental standard and are designed with a low-floor structure, making them accessible for the elderly and people with disabilities. Each bus has a capacity of 70 passengers and is equipped with onboard Wi-Fi and surveillance cameras to enhance comfort and safety.

During a recent visit to Khorezm, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev observed the improvements firsthand and emphasized the importance of creating convenient and modern transportation solutions for residents.
The newly introduced buses are significantly improving transport efficiency in Urgench. Compared to the older small buses that transported 200–300 people per day, each of the new buses now serves around 1,000 passengers daily.

Additionally, the frequency of bus services has increased, with wait times reduced to 5–12 minutes, contributing to a 38% public transport usage rate in the city.
Beyond enhancing daily commutes, the upgraded system is also helping to reduce traffic congestion and prevent transport shortages on busy streets.
To further expand the coverage, Bunyod plans to bring in another 30 buses in the near future. The Head of State has instructed local authorities to connect more districts through public transport and make routes more efficient. He also highlighted the need for regular road maintenance, improved driver training, and high-quality technical servicing to extend the service life of the buses.
