Mongolia’s privately owned airline, Hunnu Air, is planning to launch direct passenger flights between Tashkent and Ulaanbaatar in the second half of 2025, according to Uzbekistan Airports. The new route aims to enhance connectivity between the two capitals and boost trade and tourism.

Negotiations between Hunnu Air and Uzbekistan Airports have been ongoing, with discussions focusing on the operational and logistical aspects of the route. The flights are expected to be operated using Embraer 190 aircraft.
Hunnu Air, which has been in operation since 2011, is no stranger to the Central Asian market. The airline currently runs scheduled flights from Ulaanbaatar to Almaty, Kazakhstan, and previously served the Ulaanbaatar-Bishkek route between 2022 and 2023.
The establishment of direct flights between Uzbekistan and Mongolia was first proposed in November 2023, with expectations that the route would facilitate increased transit travel and boost the export of Uzbek agricultural products.
During a meeting in 2024, Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Mongolian President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening air connectivity by signing an air traffic agreement.
Hunnu Air currently operates a fleet of Embraer E190 and ATR 72-500 aircraft. In early 2024, the airline signed a lease agreement for two new Embraer E195-E2 jets, set for delivery in April and October, allowing for network expansion.
