The national carrier had previously operated charter flights to Madrid in 2023, but this marks the reintroduction of scheduled services on the route. Last year, Spanish airlines World2Fly and Iberojet also provided seasonal charter services from Madrid to Tashkent and Urgench.
With a flight time of eight hours, Madrid will become the longest European destination for Uzbekistan Airways. In addition to Madrid, the airline already operates regular services to major European cities, including Istanbul, Frankfurt, London, Milan, Munich, Paris, and Riga.
Starting in April, the airline will also increase its flight frequency on the Tashkent-Milan route from one to three flights per week.
In 2024, Uzbekistan Airways exceeded 6mn passengers for the first time in its history, surpassing the previous year's record by 20%. The airline also expanded its global network with 11 new scheduled destinations. To accommodate rising demand, the airline enhanced its fleet by leasing two Airbus A320neo aircraft and acquiring two Airbus A330-200 widebody planes through wet leasing from Qanot Sharq.
Additionally, Uzbekistan Airways will participate in the MRO Central Asia 2025 conference and exhibition on aircraft maintenance, which will be held in Tashkent on March 18-19.
