On April 20, when new large and extra-large buses arrived in Tashkent, including 169 Yutong electric buses (China), the Tashkenters breathed a sigh of relief thinking of more eco-friendly vehicles. However, some of these public carriers have not even moved, and by the evening there are even fewer of them due to the lack of charging stations in bus depots. Because it takes about 4-5 hours for buses to be fully charged.
Toshshahartranskhizmat (the city public authorities) acknowledged a shortage of charging stations on Monday and said that in accordance with the February decree of the President of Uzbekistan on the purchase of 1,000 buses and electric buses for the capital, the organization began to revamp the bus fleet.
The construction of charging stations on the territory of all bus stations has already begun, and 80 charging stations will be put into operation in the near future. At the moment, there are only 30 charging points at bus station number 8 and 28 at bus station number 7.
