Uzbekistan has granted approval for three foreign airlines to begin operating regular flights to the country, as reported by the Uzaviation agency. The move is part of ongoing efforts to expand international air services and improve connectivity with key global markets.

AirAsia X Berhad, a Malaysian carrier, was granted permission on February 3, 2025, to operate regular flights between Kuala Lumpur and Tashkent, marking the introduction of the Kuala Lumpur-Tashkent-Kuala Lumpur route. The airline will utilize Airbus A330 aircraft for its operations.
AirAsia X Berhad, a low-cost airline under the Malaysian AirAsia group, was founded in 2006. After the COVID-19 pandemic, it expanded its focus to African and Central Asian markets, launching routes to Almaty and Nairobi.
On the same day, South Korean airline T'way Air received approval to operate regular flights between Seoul and Tashkent. This approval comes under the intergovernmental agreement between Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea. T'way Air will also operate its flights using Airbus A330 aircraft.
T'way Air, a South Korean low-cost carrier established in 2010, offers flights to East and Southeast Asia, Australia, and Europe.
The following day, on February 4, Red Sea Airlines from Egypt was granted permission to fly regularly between Sharm el-Sheikh and Tashkent. Previously, the Egyptian airline had only operated flights on a charter basis. Red Sea Airlines will use Boeing 737 aircraft for its new scheduled services.
Red Sea Airlines, founded in 2021, operates charter flights from Sharm El-Sheikh International Airport to popular tourist destinations in Egypt.
