In a step towards enhancing connectivity, Kuwait Airlines has announced plans to launch direct flights between Tashkent and Kuwait City in 2025.
This development was discussed during a meeting between Ayubkhon Yunusov, Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Kuwait, and Sheikh Humoud Mubarak Humoud Al-Sabah as head of Kuwait's Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). Both sides agreed to initiate negotiations between their respective aviation authorities to finalize the details of this new route.
Kuwait expressed satisfaction with the outcomes of the recent civil aviation meeting in Malaysia, held in October 2024, which contributed to strengthening international cooperation in the sector.
Since 2021, Kuwait has allowed its citizens to visit Uzbekistan visa-free for up to 10 days. However, Uzbek nationals still require visas to enter Kuwait.
Currently, Tashkent is connected to four Persian Gulf countries—Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, and Iran—via direct flights. The addition of Kuwait to this network is expected to further bolster trade, tourism, and cultural exchange between the two nations.
