Uzbekistan and Pakistan have taken a step toward deepening their bilateral cooperation by signing a series of agreements during high-level talks.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan and Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif of Pakistan formalized their commitment by signing a Joint Declaration aimed at strengthening multifaceted relations. Additionally, the leaders established a High-Level Strategic Partnership Council to enhance collaboration in key areas.

Several agreements were signed in the presence of both leaders, covering diverse sectors:
- Science, Technology, and Innovation – Strengthening cooperation in research and development.
- Visa-Free Travel – Facilitating easier diplomatic travel between the two nations.
- Internal Affairs – Enhancing collaboration between the Ministries of Internal Affairs.
- Vocational Education – Promoting technical and professional training opportunities.
- Youth Policy – Encouraging youth engagement and development programs.
- Media Cooperation – Establishing closer ties between national news agencies.
- City Partnerships – Strengthening relations between Tashkent and Lahore through diplomatic academies and local agreements.

Growing Economic and Trade Relations
Pakistan was among the first countries to recognize Uzbekistan’s independence in 1991, and diplomatic relations were established in 1992. Over the years, economic ties have steadily expanded.
Trade turnover between the two nations has seen a rise, increasing from $122mn in 2019 to $387mn in 2023. In 2024, this figure surpassed $400mn, and the number of joint ventures reached 130.
In addition, trading houses have been opened in Karachi and Tashkent, while direct flights between Tashkent and Lahore have been restored, further enhancing connectivity.
