Jazeera Airways, Kuwait's second national airline, is set to launch a new flight route connecting Ferghana, Uzbekistan, to Kuwait. The announcement came during a meeting between Khairullo Bozorov, the regional governor, and Ildar Abubekirov, Jazeera Airways director for Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.
The discussions at the meeting centered around the newly established Kuwait-Ferghana-Kuwait route and explored the potential expansion of Jazeera Airways' services from Fergana International Airport. Abubekirov shared that passengers from the Ferghana region play a significant role in Jazeera Airways' existing flights from three cities in Uzbekistan to Kuwait, prompting the decision to initiate trips from Ferghana.
Initially, the airline will operate 168-seat Airbus A320neo aircraft three times a week. Abubekirov further stated that the frequency of flights will increase to daily operations in the coming months, showcasing Jazeera Airways' commitment to enhancing connectivity between the two regions.
Bozorov acknowledged the rapid growth of trade, economic, investment, and cultural ties between the Ferghana region and Arab countries, with a particular emphasis on Kuwait. He highlighted the importance of direct flights, especially for pilgrimage tourism, as a means to strengthen cooperation. Bozorov expressed full support for Jazeera Airways' activities in Ferghana, aiming to foster continued collaboration.
The meeting also touched upon future plans for Jazeera Airways to organize flights from Ferghana to additional destinations, including Egypt, Turkey, and several European countries. The participants considered the possibility of transforming Fergana International Airport into an international transit hub between Europe and Asia. This prospect aligns with the ongoing project of modernizing and managing the airport through a public-private partnership.
Jazeera Airways, founded in 2004 and headquartered at Kuwait International Airport, specializes in providing low-cost air travel. Currently, the airline operates a fleet of 21 Airbus aircraft, serving 34 countries with over 60 destinations worldwide.
