President Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced that 23 global hotel brands, including Swissôtel, Sheraton, Ritz-Carlton, Novotel, Pullman, Marriott, ibis, and Mercure, will soon open in Uzbekistan. This was revealed during a video-selector meeting where the country’s 2024 economic progress was reviewed, and plans for 2025 were outlined.
This expansion is part of a broader effort to strengthen the tourism sector, with entrepreneurs having already invested UZS 6.5 trillion ($502.9mn) in building 24,000 new hotel beds this year. Next year, another 30,000 beds are planned, backed by an additional UZS 10 trillion ($773.7mn) in investments.
Alongside these developments, the construction of a massive tourism and commercial complex, “Sea Breeze,” will begin in Bostanlik, with a planned investment of $10bn. Additionally, 17 large shopping and tourist facilities have already opened this year, and another 25 are expected to follow.
To boost Uzbekistan’s export capabilities, a new company dedicated to trade development has been launched, with $350mn allocated to finance export activities.
This initiative has proven successful, with entrepreneurs exporting $6 for every dollar spent. For the coming year, an additional $300mn will be allocated to support further growth.
