Marriott International has announced an agreement with Pasha Holding to debut The Ritz-Carlton brand in Uzbekistan. The agreement marks the company’s inaugural venture into luxury hospitality in the country, with The Ritz-Carlton, Tashkent set to grace the capital city with its renowned service and sophisticated ambiance.
Ivica Cacic, Senior Vice President Development CEE and DACH at Marriott International, expressed enthusiasm about this strategic move, stating;
“Uzbekistan continues to grow as a popular business and leisure destination, and the signing of The Ritz-Carlton, Tashkent reflects our commitment to expand our portfolio of brands and experiences across the country and the broader Central Asia region.”
The Ritz-Carlton, Tashkent is poised to offer 140 exquisitely appointed guestrooms and suites, complemented by The Ritz-Carlton Club experience and three distinctive dining venues. The property will boast a range of amenities including an indoor swimming pool, fitness center, spa facilities, and more than 1,300 square meters of meetings and events space.
Jalal Gasimov, CEO of Pasha Holding, shared his excitement about this venture, describing it as a significant milestone in the company's investments in the hospitality sector beyond Azerbaijan. He emphasized the project's importance in solidifying Tashkent and Uzbekistan's position as premier destinations for international luxury travel and investment.
Located in the Chilanzar district of Tashkent, the 31-story hotel will enjoy proximity to key commercial and business areas of the city, including Tashkent City - a modern mixed-use business district. Additionally, the hotel will be conveniently situated near popular tourist attractions such as the National Park of Uzbekistan and the Magic City Park, enhancing the city's allure for both business and leisure travelers.

In the first two months of 2024, Uzbekistan's tourism sector experienced an uptick, with tourist arrivals reaching 974,200, denoting an annual growth of 11.9%. By early March, the majority of visitors hailed from Tajikistan, totaling 363,300, with Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan closely trailing behind, contributing 291,100 and 155,900 tourists, respectively. Conversely, the influx of tourists from China, South Korea, and Belarus remained comparatively modest, with figures standing at 5,500, 5,400, and 2,200 visitors, respectively, since the year's commencement.
In 2023, Uzbekistan hosted a total of 773,300 foreign leisure and recreational visitors, with the Russian Federation emerging as the primary source, accounting for 235,300 arrivals. In December 2023, Uzbekistan witnessed a drop in prices, making it a more budget-friendly destination for Russian tourists, with a reduction of 3.4% compared to November of the same year.
This marks the second Ritz-Carlton in Central Asia, with the first opening in November 2013 in Almaty, Kazakhstan. The Ritz-Carlton, Almaty occupies the top floors of the 37-story Esentai Tower, one of Central Asia's tallest buildings.
