The Institute of Macroeconomic and Regional Studies of Uzbekistan has reported substantial growth in the country's tourism sector. From 2017 to 2023, there has been a remarkable 7-fold increase in the number of hotels, and other tourist accommodation facilities.
By the end of 2023, Uzbekistan boasted a total of 5,526 such establishments, compared to just 767 in 2017, reflecting a significant expansion in tourism infrastructure.
In addition to accommodation facilities, the number of entities and facilities serving tourists also saw a 7-fold increase, rising to 5,276 from 749 over the same period.
This growth aligns with the objectives outlined in the "Uzbekistan-2030" strategy, which aims to double the capacity for accommodating tourists through increased private investment.
Earlier Daryo reported that in the initial two months of 2024, Uzbekistan experienced a significant uptick in its tourism sector, witnessing a notable increase in the number of visitors to 974,200. This represents a yearly rise of 11.9%.
