Samsung Heavy Industries, a leading South Korean company, is set to hire 800 qualified specialists from Uzbekistan, according to the Migration Agency.
The announcement came after a meeting on December 3 between Bekhzod Musayev, the Director of the Migration Agency, and Jinho Bae, Head of Global Human Resources Management at Samsung Heavy Industries.
The two parties agreed that in 2025, the company will bring up to 800 Uzbeks to South Korea, with the aim of improving their professional skills. These workers will travel to South Korea on a multiple-entry E-7 visa, which is typically issued to skilled workers for a three-year period.
The Migration Agency emphasized that this project is part of an ongoing effort to create stable employment opportunities for Uzbeks abroad and support their professional development.
This move follows a similar initiative by Hyundai Heavy Industries, which recently announced plans to recruit 350 Uzbeks to work in South Korea’s Ulsan region.
Workers hired by Hyundai will initially receive E-9 visas, which allow for employment in South Korea, with the possibility of transitioning to E-7 visas for long-term residency and family reunification.
