In a boost to Uzbekistan's burgeoning IT sector, 37 export-oriented companies have joined the ranks of residents at the country's esteemed IT Park, marking a substantial increase in international investment. Among these newcomers, 19 companies stand out for their substantial foreign capital contributions, underscoring the growing global interest in Uzbekistan's IT potential.
Throughout March, IT Park successfully attracted a diverse array of companies, with founders hailing from nations such as Japan, South Korea, Estonia, Lithuania, India, Georgia, and various CIS countries. Among these are two Japanese firms: TOYBEEZ, specializing in computer game development, and H AND K GROUP, an individual entrepreneur focusing on software development and maintenance.
The influx of these new residents reflects the efficacy of IT Park's support programs, as well as the favorable benefits and incentives extended to export-oriented IT enterprises by the Uzbekistani government. These measures are designed to bolster the country's position as an attractive destination for international investment in the IT sector.
Collectively, the new residents of March are poised to export products and services valued at over $10mn to international markets. Their activities span a range of fields including IT and BPO services, software development, game development, design, and multimedia. Key export markets targeted include the USA, European countries, Estonia, UAE, India, Japan, South Korea, and various CIS nations.
Importantly, the business plans submitted by these 19 foreign companies outline ambitions to create more than 1,150 new jobs, signaling a substantial contribution to economic growth and employment generation in Uzbekistan. This influx of job opportunities not only enhances the livelihoods of the local populace but also serves to elevate the professional skills of Uzbekistani specialists, rendering them more competitive on the global stage.
The success of IT Park in attracting foreign enterprises underscores the sustainable growth trajectory of Uzbekistan's IT sector and underscores the efficacy of the government's strategic initiatives aimed at stimulating investment and fostering an export-oriented IT ecosystem. This achievement aligns with broader national objectives, including the creation of over 300,000 jobs for IT specialists by 2030, the transformation of Uzbekistan into a global IT outsourcing hub, and the escalation of the republic's IT services exports to $5bn within the same timeframe.
