Russia and Uzbekistan are finalizing a "road map" to enhance their economic cooperation. The document’s main provisions were recently discussed by representatives from both nations, according to the Russian Ministry of Economic Development.
The roadmap will target key sectors, including industry, energy, transport, and other areas. The two countries aim to increase bilateral trade to $30bn by 2030, with Russia's exports to Uzbekistan reaching $18.2bn and Uzbekistan’s exports to Russia totaling $11.8bn.
In the first nine months of 2024, Russia ranked second in Uzbekistan’s foreign trade, holding an 18% share of the country's trade turnover. Additionally, the two sides are nearing the approval of Russian participation in the Agroexpress project, which is set to operate through 2026.
Earlier, Uzbekistan and Russia revealed plans to establish new logistics routes, according to Uzbekistan's Ministry of Transport. This initiative is designed to improve connectivity and strengthen trade between the two nations, while also providing access to global markets.
On November 19, at the "Transport Week-2024" event in Moscow, Uzbekistan's Transport Minister Ilkhom Makhkamov and Russia's Transport Minister Roman Starovoit discussed potential collaboration on railway infrastructure and new transit routes, particularly those crossing the Caspian Sea.
