In the first ten months of 2024, Uzbekistan recorded approximately 6.5 million foreign visitors, according to the country's Statistics Agency. This marks an increase of 951,000 tourists or 17.2% compared to the same period in 2023. In October alone, around 800,000 foreign guests arrived in Uzbekistan.
Top Tourist Sources Among CIS Countries
Tajikistan remains the leading source of tourists to Uzbekistan. Since January, 1.878mn Tajik citizens have visited the country, nearly doubling the figures from the previous year. In October alone, over 200,000 Tajik nationals crossed into Uzbekistan.
Close behind is Kyrgyzstan, with 1.87mn tourists arriving since the start of 2024. Kazakhstan takes third place, contributing 1.26mn visitors, followed by Russia with 686,700 tourists and Turkmenistan with 145,000.
Tourism from Non-CIS Countries
Among non-CIS countries, Turkey leads with 95,700 visitors since January. China and India follow with 57,700 and 55,900 tourists, respectively. South Korea and Italy contributed 36,500 and 36,300 visitors, respectively.
In October specifically, Turkey topped the arrivals from non-CIS countries with 11,400 visitors. China and India each sent 7,300 tourists, while Italy contributed 6,000, and South Korea added 3,900 visitors.
Tourism Growth Trends
The increase in tourist arrivals reflects Uzbekistan’s growing appeal as a travel destination, fueled by efforts to modernize infrastructure, promote cultural heritage, and simplify visa processes. This upward trend highlights the country’s ambition to become a key tourism hub in Central Asia.
