In the first ten months of the year, Uzbekistan produced 338,000 cars and localized 1,400 types of components, presidential press service reported.
On November 25, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev was briefed on the ongoing developments and future plans for Uzbekistan's automobile industry, with a focus on boosting production, exports, and localization.
The automobile sector currently accounts for 10% of the country's industrial output. Due to effective economic measures, prices in the industry have decreased by 4%, while exports reached $455mn.
The chairman of Uzavtosanoat outlined plans for the coming year. The production target for 2025 is set at 450,000 cars, with exports expected to rise to $700mn. Plans to further increase localization are underway, focusing on closer collaboration with regional enterprises. As part of these efforts, 63 projects worth $325mn will be implemented to develop 700 new components.
A key milestone in the sector's development is the electric vehicle factory established in Jizzakh in cooperation with the Chinese company "BYD." The facility currently produces models such as the Chazor and Song Plus Champion.
Future plans include expanding the range of electric vehicles, with production set to increase to 200,000 units per year in the second phase, valued at $300mn. In the third phase, the goal is to reach 500,000 units annually.
President Mirziyoyev endorsed the plans and instructed local enterprises to focus on fulfilling orders based on cooperation with international partners. He also gave the green light for the construction of additional production capacities and the steady acquisition of components and spare parts for electric vehicles.
