President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed the ongoing work and future tasks at the BYD Uzbekistan Factory in the Jizzakh region, on July 9. This enterprise, inaugurated on June 27, in the presence of President Mirziyoyev, marks the first BYD factory outside of China, dedicated to producing passenger cars.
BYD, a global leader in the production and sale of new energy vehicles such as electric cars and hybrids, brings its advanced technological base, innovative solutions, and rigorous quality control systems to Uzbekistan. The decision to establish a factory in Uzbekistan is attributed to the country's attractive investment environment and policies, as well as the availability of engineering personnel, a robust production base, raw materials, and significant logistics potential in the automotive industry.
The chairman of the board of the joint-stock company Uzavtosanoat presented the initial results of the investment project and plans for its expansion. To launch the full production process, an analysis was conducted to ensure that Uzbek enterprises could produce components like plastic parts, windows, bumpers, and discs in compliance with BYD's quality standards.
The collaboration with BYD emphasizes not only the production but also the adoption of modern technology and standards in sales, service, and warranty areas. This approach aims to prevent the release of low-quality products and ensure high-quality service and warranty coverage for the vehicles.
A key component of this partnership is the training and skill enhancement of local personnel. Plans are underway to establish an engineering training center in collaboration with the Jizzakh Polytechnic Institute and the Turin Polytechnic University in Tashkent. This center will train highly qualified specialists for the BYD Uzbekistan Factory.
During the presentation, measures to increase production volumes and accelerate the localization process were discussed. President Mirziyoyev set specific tasks to expedite production at the BYD Uzbekistan Factory joint venture, develop a strategy for future cooperation stages, increase the annual production capacity to 500,000 units, and penetrate export markets.
