Plans are underway to establish a golf car manufacturing facility in Uzbekistan. The project, which is estimated to cost $1 mn, was reported by Uzeltekhsanoat. Global OSB, a company registered in Uzbekistan last year, is set to spearhead the production of these vehicles. The company, founded by "Turkish Global OSB Proje ve Yonetim Danismanlik", plans to manufacture various components including front windscreens, bumpers, body parts, chassis covers, and seats in Uzbekistan.
It is worth noting that there is currently no production of golf cars in Uzbekistan. However, the country is keen on developing the production of electric vehicles. In January 2024, a ceremony was held in Shenzhen to inaugurate a plant for assembling hybrid and electric cars in the Jizzakh region of Uzbekistan.
The event was graced by the presence of the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and Wang Chuanfu, the president of BYD. The plant is projected to have an annual production capacity of 50,000 cars.
Mirziyoyev expressed the need to expand the model range in response to market demand and increase the production capacity to 300,000 per year shortly. Additionally, there are plans to commence the assembly of electric buses in Uzbekistan, which will involve the localisation of spare parts and the establishment of engineering and service centres.
During the event, Mirziyoyev was presented with a YANGWANG U8 car to commemorate the delivery of the 10,000th BYD electric car to Uzbekistan.
