In a developing case, three additional suspects have been arrested in connection with the shooting incident involving Komil Allamjonov, the former head of the Information Policy Department of the Presidential Administration. The General Prosecutor's Office reported that these arrests followed a swift investigative response after the attack.
On October 26, unidentified assailants opened fire on a Range Rover driven by a civilian, reportedly with Komil Allamjonov as a passenger during the incident. The attackers swiftly fled the scene, and no injuries were reported.
The press service confirmed that the investigation is ongoing, with authorities working to gather further evidence related to the criminal case.
Earlier, one individual had already been identified and taken into custody as a suspect in the shooting.
Following the incident, the Prosecutor General's Office opened a criminal case under Articles 25 and 97 (attempted murder) and Article 248 (illegal possession of firearms, ammunition, explosive materials, or devices) of the Criminal Code. A collaborative investigative and operational team was formed, comprising staff from the Prosecutor General's Office, prosecutors from Tashkent's regional and city offices, military and transport prosecutors, as well as representatives from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, regional and city police departments, and the Customs Committee.
On September 30, 2024, Allamjonov was relieved of his duties as the head of the Information Policy Department, after which he indicated plans to transition to the private sector.
Investigative actions are continuing as law enforcement seeks to clarify the circumstances surrounding the incident and the motives behind the attack on Allamjonov's vehicle.
