Uzbekistan introduces administrative and criminal liability for attracting teachers to forced labor. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed the law corresponding law on March 27, Komil Allamjonov, Deputy Head of the Administration of Uzbekistan's President, reported.
In particular, in the general case, attracting a person to forced labor is punishable by a fine of up to UZS 30mn; now, drawing pedagogues to forced labor can be punished with a fine of up to UZS 45mn.
The Criminal Code established special criminal liability for actions against pedagogues, enhancing punishment.
That is, to force a pedagogue employee to work in any form administratively if it is committed after the application of administrative penalty for the same act, a fine from UZS 45mn to 60mn or deprivation of certain rights for up to 3 years, or three up to 20 years, the penalty of correctional work was set.
Also, the administrative responsibility of an educational organization for interfering with the professional activity of a pedagogue employee illegally or preventing him from performing his official duties has been strengthened. Now, citizens are fined from UZS 2.1mn to 4.5mn, and officials are fined from UZS 3mn to 6mn for this act.
In addition, only a fine was prescribed for illegal interference in the activities of a teacher. However, officials who repeatedly commit this act may be sentenced to up to 15 days of administrative imprisonment.
