An agreement was signed between the aviation authorities of Uzbekistan and the United Republic of Tanzania during the ICAN-2024 event. This agreement marks a strategic step toward enhancing air connectivity and fostering bilateral relations between the two countries.
As part of the ongoing discussions, the delegation from Uzbekistan's Ministry of Transport, supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has been actively engaging with various nations to establish new air routes. The recent negotiations with Tanzania focused on the establishment of both cargo and passenger transportation services.
The signed agreement allows for 21 passenger flights per week, along with unlimited cargo flights for both countries. This arrangement is set to facilitate trade and tourism, opening up new pathways for economic collaboration.
Tanzania presents an exciting opportunity for Uzbekistan as a new travel destination. Known for its mild climate and stunning attractions, including Zanzibar Island—renowned for its crystal-clear waters that rival the Maldives—the country offers diverse experiences ranging from vibrant wildlife in its savannahs to the breathtaking peaks of Mount Kilimanjaro. Additionally, Tanzania's rich agricultural products, such as coffee, tea, cocoa, and tropical fruits, are expected to pique the interest of Uzbek merchants.
This agreement is anticipated to boost tourism flows between Uzbekistan and Tanzania. It provides an excellent opportunity for Uzbek tourism companies and airlines to attract transit tourists while also enabling the introduction of pilgrimage tourism from Tanzania to Uzbekistan.
