President Shavkat Mirziyoyev received a Russian delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin on February 28 to discuss expanding cooperation in the construction industry, the presidential press service reported.

At the beginning of the meeting, Khusnullin conveyed greetings and best wishes from Russian President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.
The discussions focused on implementing agreements reached during Putin’s state visit to Uzbekistan in May 2023, particularly in regional development and infrastructure projects.
Both sides emphasized large-scale cooperation in construction, including the design and development of infrastructure facilities and the supply of building materials and equipment.

These initiatives align with Uzbekistan’s socio-economic development programs and involve active participation from organizations and companies in both countries.
The meeting also highlighted the importance of experience exchange in shared construction, design, expertise, digitalization, and public procurement. Officials reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening practical collaboration in these areas.
In January 2025, Russia ranked as Uzbekistan’s second-largest trade partner, with a trade volume of $799.1mn (17.7%). This marks a slight rise from $766.2mn in January 2024 and remains above the $691.5mn recorded in 2023.
