Tajikistan's exports of goods totaled $1.947bn in 2024, marking a 20.5% decline compared to the previous year, according to Interfax citing the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan.
China and Switzerland remained the country’s top export destinations, accounting for 21.1% and 19.4% of total exports. Other key markets included Turkey (12.3%), Kazakhstan (10.1%), and Uzbekistan (9.1%).
Meanwhile, Tajikistan's imports surged by 19.2% year-on-year, reaching $7.008bn. Russia was the largest supplier, contributing 26.9% of total imports, followed by China (22.1%) and Kazakhstan (15.6%).
Despite the overall trade deficit, Tajikistan maintained a surplus in trade with Switzerland ($29.4mn) and Afghanistan ($91.1mn). The country engaged in foreign trade with 121 nations in 2024, including ten CIS countries and 111 non-CIS states.
In 1H24, Tajikistan's exports rose to $997mn, up $319mn or 47% from the same period in 2023. Major export destinations included Switzerland ($298.5mn), China ($186.8mn), Kazakhstan ($118.7mn), Turkey ($111.1mn), and Uzbekistan ($80.4mn).
