Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrived in Kuwait on February 17 for an official visit at the invitation of Emir Mishal Al-Sabah. The head of state was warmly greeted at Kuwait International Airport by the Emir, Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khalid Al-Sabah, and other high-ranking officials.

A formal ceremony marked the arrival, with a guard of honor, the raising of national flags, and the playing of both countries' anthems. Both leaders exchanged greetings with the members of their official delegations and the diplomatic corps.

A brief conversation between President Mirziyoyev and Mishal Al-Sabah took place at the Amir Terminal, setting the tone for the high-level talks scheduled for later in the day. These discussions are expected to focus on further enhancing the friendly and multifaceted partnership between Uzbekistan and Kuwait, covering areas such as politics, trade, investment, finance, and cultural cooperation.
Several intergovernmental and interdepartmental agreements are expected to be signed as a result of the summit.

Uzbekistan and Kuwait Relations
Relations between Uzbekistan and Kuwait date back to December 30, 1991, when Kuwait recognized Uzbekistan's independence. Diplomatic ties were formalized in July 1994, and embassies in both countries were opened in the early 2000s. The two nations have since fostered strong cooperation, particularly in international organizations like the UN and OIC.
In recent years, Uzbekistan and Kuwait have worked to strengthen economic ties, notably through the creation of a joint intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation in 2004. Business forums in both Uzbekistan and Kuwait, as well as exhibitions showcasing "Made in Uzbekistan" products, have played a key role in expanding bilateral trade.

The recent Uzbekistan-Kuwaiti business forum in Kuwait City on February 15, held just before President Mirziyoyev's visit, resulted in the signing of new investment and trade agreements. These agreements are expected to boost economic relations between the two countries.
